One Jake Gyllenhaal was harmed in the making of the new "Road House."
On the Monday episode of the "Armchair Expert" podcast, the actor, 43, revealed he sliced his hand with glass and developed a staph infection while filming the remake of the 1989 action movie starring Patrick Swayze.
During one sequence where his character jumps over a bar, Gyllenhaal said his hand was legitimately sliced by "a lot" of glass, but he continued shooting.
"I put my hand on the bar, (expletive) straight glass," he recalled, adding, "I felt the glass go into my hand. ... I remember the feeling. I went, 'That's a lot of glass,' and I just finished the (expletive) take."
Gyllenhaal said injuries like these happened "all the time" on the set of the movie and revealed he also developed a staph infection. "My whole arm swelled up, and it ended up being staph," he said.

According to the Mayo Clinic, staph infections "can range from minor skin problems to life-threatening illness" and can potentially be deadly if staphylococcus bacteria, which causes the infection, goes deeper into the body and enters the "bloodstream, joints, bones, lungs or heart."
"Sometimes in those scenes, we're fighting on the floor, we're fighting around tables, we're fighting around glass, even if it's breakaway glass," Gyllenhaal said.

Gyllenhaal stars in the new "Road House" from Amazon MGM Studios as a former UFC fighter who takes a job as a bouncer at a roadhouse in Florida. MMA fighter Conor McGregor makes his acting debut in the film, which Doug Liman ("The Bourne Identity") directed. The film premiered earlier this month at South by Southwest and will be released Thursday on Prime Video.
On the podcast, Gyllenhaal also recalled an "insane" moment where McGregor slammed him into a wall and threw him onto a table for a scene in the film.
Still, Gyllenhaal stressed that he was grateful he did not sustain any "major injuries" on "Road House," which he called a testament to the film's stunt team.
Meanwhile, Gyllenhaal appeared on "The Tonight Show" on Monday and described a moment where he and McGregor were discussing a "Road House" fight sequence off camera, and while McGregor was "talking to me really close" and pantomiming his moves, "By mistake, he clocked me in the face."
"I, by mistake, then slammed his face with a car door," Gyllenhaal added, noting that McGregor simply laughed this off.
